Dimash Concert “Stranger” in Düsseldorf
The Dimash Concert “Stranger” and the Pre-concert party in Düsseldorf were a big party of Kazakhstan and its beautiful culture. Info Shymkent went to these events to support and report.
On 24th November 2024, we from Info Shymkent embarked on a special journey to Düsseldorf in Germany. The occasion was none other than the highly anticipated concert of the Kazakh exceptional artist Dimash Qudaibergen, who took the stage at the multi-purpose arena PSD Bank Dome as part of his Stranger tour.
But some people might think: Who is Dimash Qudaibergen? Dimash Qudaibergen, born on May 24, 1994 in Aktobe in Kazakhstan, is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He has a universal musical education in classical and contemporary music and is famous for his extraordinary vocal range, spanning six to seven octaves. This allows him to effortlessly blend different vocal techniques and genres. He sings in a total of 12 languages and combines Western pop music with traditional Kazakh elements, earning him a global fanbase. In 2015, he won the Grand Prix at the prestigious Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus. He gained even broader recognition in 2017 when he participated as a wildcard contestant on the Chinese TV show Singer and secured second place. Since then, his fame has continued to rise and made him to currently Kazakhstan’s most famous singer.
His Stranger tour was his second time in Central Europe after the Arnau tour in 2022, and lead him for the second time to Düsseldorf in Germany to show his stunning artistic talent to a German and international audience.
As a special highlight for the numerous fans from around the world, a pre-concert party was held at CLUB MTV, located on the ground floor of the PSD Bank Dome arena, before the evening concert. This event was organized by the German Dimash fan club with the support of the Kazakh Embassy in Germany and Info Shymkent. The lovingly decorated venue provided an authentic atmosphere: an elaborately designed yurt served as a selfie and photo backdrop, while easels displayed stunning landscape photographs of Kazakhstan, showcasing the country’s rich diversity.
The official opening featured the reading of a written greeting from Kazakhstan’s ambassador to Germany, Nurlan Onshanov. This was followed by a fascinating performance by two dancers in traditional Kazakh attire, who mesmerized the audience with popular folk dances.
Another highlight was the multimedia presentation “Through the Homeland of Dimash – From West to East,” presented by us, Info Shymkent. The first 20-minute virtual journey took the audience from the coastal city of Aktau through the breathtaking desert landscapes of Mangystau, the Aral Sea, and Baikonur, to the historic city of Turkistan, and further to Shymkent, located at the foothills of the majestic Tianshan Mountains.
During the lunch break, guests enjoyed a rich buffet while representatives of the Kazakh Embassy in Germany introduced the new media campaign “Kazakhstan: Born Bold.” This initiative, launched in 2024, aims to present Kazakhstan as a modern, dynamic, and tradition-rich country.
After the break, the second part of the multimedia presentation captivated the audience once again. This time, the virtual journey led from the vibrant metropolis of Almaty through the breathtaking national parks of Sharyn Canyon and Kolsai to the capital Astana and further to the archaeologically significant kurgans in Katon-Karagai, Kazakhstan’s easternmost point.
To conclude the pre-concert party, two international Dimash fans surprised the audience by showcasing their learned dombra-playing skills, leaving everyone delighted. The lively atmosphere continued even after the official program, as fans seized the opportunity to share their love for music and Kazakhstan.
Finally, the moment arrived: after a roughly 40-minute wait in our seats at the PSD Bank Dome, the Stranger concert began with a spectacular stage show. Dimash opened the concert with the epic song “Golden,” followed by energetic songs like “Give Me Your Love,” “The Story of One Sky,” and “Battle of Memories.” With emotional pieces like “SOS” and “When I’ve Got You,” he once again demonstrated his exceptional vocal range and expressiveness.
A special moment was the performance of Dimash’s younger brother Abilmansur, who played the traditional Kazakh instrument, the dombra. Equally captivating was the performance of renowned Kazakh kobyz player Olzhas Kurmanbek, who showcased his mastery of the ancient bowed instrument.
The concert, which brought together fans of all ages, was a true musical journey, spanning powerful ballads to electrifying rhythms. Around 10 PM, the unforgettable evening concluded with prolonged standing ovations as the audience celebrated Dimash for his outstanding performance.
The night was a true celebration of art, music, and international unity. The concert left a lasting impression and contributed to further promoting Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage.
With this performance, Dimash marked the tenth concert of his Stranger tour and his 31st solo concert overall. It was an unforgettable event that united fans from all over the world and showcased the magic of music in its purest form.
