Peak Shymbulak – over a sea of clouds
Morning view from Peak Shymbulak to Peak Komsomol in Transili-Alatau.
Our Photo of the Day shows a wonderful late morning view from Peak Shymbulak across a sea of clouds to the nearby peaks of the Transili-Alatau in Kazakhstan. The highest peak in the picture is the Peak Komsomol with a height of 4,376 meters.
You can climb the peak of Shymbulak at an altitude of 3,450 meters from the city of Almaty very easily. You have to take a bus that will take you to Medeu ice rink. Near the famous ice rink there is a cable car that takes you to the Shymbulak ski resort. The highest point you can reach by cable car is the Talgar Pass at 3,200 meters.
This part was the easiest. From now on you will have to use your feet to reach Peak Shymbulak on your left. The hike is not very difficult, but you need to be in good physical condition. When you reach the top of Shymbulak, you won’t regret the sweat and strength it took to climb. The view is amazing and you can see Peak Talgar – the highest mountain of the Transili-Alatau – the city of Almaty and nearby peaks like the already mentioned Peak Komsomol.
