Mashat Canyon – a green line through rocky terrain

The Mashat canyon which is located near Shymkent forms with trees and meadows on the floor of the canyon a green line through rocky terrain.

The Mashat Gorge is located around 50 kilometers from the city center of Shymkent. It is not as deep as its “big brother” Aksu Canyon, but the green line formed by trees and meadows at the bottom of the canyon between the rugged slopes is wonderful to behold. In the blue, sunny sky of Kazakhstan, you can see a great many eagles flying overhead. Mashat Gorge is also famous for its wild tulips which bloom in April in spring.
